The Spectat floors used for Breaking Olympic qualifying competitions for Paris 2024.

We were delighted to play a key role in the 2024 Olympic qualifying competitions held in Shanghai and Budapest. It was an incredible opportunity to contribute to the very first Olympic breaking events! Our highly versatile "Aéris" sprung and demountable dance floors are perfectly suited to competitions of this kind.

Aéris is a floor like no other, a real asset for breakers and technical teams alike. Its versatility means it can be used both indoors and out, and its multifaceted design ensures it meets the needs of athletes in a variety of environments. Breakers particularly appreciate its supple, cushioned qualities, enabling them to perform ever more acrobatic tricks with reduced risk of injury.

For breakdancers, a smooth, controlled glide is crucial. Movements such as reels, backspins and glides require minimal grip to reduce friction and enable effortless flow across the floor. Our Aéris floor is therefore coupled with a carefully selected PVC "Marley" mat, which enables dancers to maintain their fluidity. This optimal glide facilitates complex transitions and rotations, powermoves and footwork. This PVC mat is carefully heat-sealed by us to avoid any roughness on the surface.

Beyond the surface texture, the Aéris floor includes our stud system, which provides vital cushioning. This cushioning is crucial to performance and safety. It absorbs the impact of high-energy movements such as flips and freezes, reducing pressure on the dancer's joints and muscles. The suppleness of the studs provides a bounce that encourages dancers' impulses, which is particularly beneficial for acrobatic movements. This combination of flexibility and damping minimizes the risk of injury, making it easier to perform complex routines with confidence and style.

The two-part festival series kicked off in Shanghai from May 16 to 19, where athletes competed for their places at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in disciplines such as breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and BMX freestyle. The Shanghai event was a spectacular fusion of sport and culture, blending music, fashion and art with thrilling athletic performances to create an immersive festival atmosphere. It was a fantastic opportunity for fans and athletes alike to explore diverse sports, share unforgettable experiences and make new connections.

The series then moved to Budapest from June 20 to 23 for its final stop, offering athletes their last chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games. The event not only determined the final roster for breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding and sport climbing, but also turned into a vibrant celebration of sport, music, fashion and art. Fans and athletes alike enjoyed exploring new sports, creating lasting memories and meeting new people in a lively festival setting.

Spectat worked with Hurricane Parks, a Montpellier-based company specializing in Breaking and urban sports events. Our collaboration began in 2022, with the use of our innovative dance floors for the Breaking session of FISE, the international urban sports meeting they organize every year in Montpellier. Since 2022, FISE has been an official event of the "Breaking for Gold" circuit organized with the WDSF (World Dance Sport Federation)!
