We are thrilled to have played a key role in the Olympic qualifier competitions for the 2024 Games, held in Shanghai and Budapest. It was an incredible opportunity to contribute to the very first Olympic breaking events! Our versatile « Aéris » damped and portable dance floors are perfectly suited for competitions of this caliber.
The Aéris floor is unlike any other; it’s a real asset for breakers as well as for technical teams. Its versatility allows it to be used both indoors and outdoors, and its multi-faceted design ensures it meets the needs of athletes in various environments. Breakers especially appreciate its flexibility and shock absorption, allowing them to perform ever-more acrobatic moves with a reduced risk of injury.
For breakdancers, a smooth, controlled glide is crucial. Moves like windmills, backspins, and slides require minimal grip to reduce friction and allow for effortless flow across the floor. Our Aéris floor is paired with a carefully selected PVC “Marley” dance surface, which ensures dancers can maintain fluidity. This optimal glide facilitates complex transitions and rotations, powermoves, and footwork. The PVC flooring is meticulously heat-sealed by our team to ensure a seamless surface.
Beyond the surface texture, the Aéris floor includes our specialized underlay system, which provides essential cushioning. This shock absorption is critical for both performance and safety. It absorbs the impact of high-energy moves such as flips and freezes, reducing strain on dancers’ joints and muscles. The flexibility of the underlay offers a springiness that enhances dancers’ momentum, particularly beneficial for acrobatic moves. This combination of flexibility and cushioning minimizes injury risks, allowing dancers to perform complex routines with confidence and style.
The two-part festival series kicked off in Shanghai from May 16 to 19, where athletes competed for spots in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in disciplines such as breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding, and BMX freestyle. The Shanghai event was a spectacular fusion of sport and culture, blending music, fashion, and art with thrilling athletic performances to create an immersive festival atmosphere. It was a fantastic opportunity for fans and athletes to explore diverse sports, share unforgettable experiences, and forge new connections.
The series then moved to Budapest from June 20 to 23 for its final stop, giving athletes their last chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games. This event not only determined the final list for breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and sport climbing but also evolved into a vibrant celebration of sport, music, fashion, and art. Both fans and athletes enjoyed exploring new sports, creating lasting memories, and meeting new people in a lively festival setting.
Spectat worked hand in hand with Hurricane Parks, a company based in Montpellier specialised in breaking and street sport events. Our collaboration started in 2022 with the use of our professional dance floors for the breaking session of the FISE international event they host every year. In 2022, the FISE even entered the list of « Breaking for Gold events », under the supervision of the World Dance Sport Federation!
